A Letter to the ParklandNews.com Editor
August 17, 2011

There is a wonderful man by the name of Matt McMillen in your area who owns and operates Alarm Security, LLC.com. I have family in the Farmington/Desloge/Park Hills area and my mother was born and raised there.

I reside in Chaffee, Mo and happened to stumble across the businesses Facebook page and noticed a 24 hour contest with an Apple iPad giveaway.

The question on his page was, "If you won an Apple iPad, who would you give it to and why?"

The contest rules were basic and whichever poster "liked" Alarm Security, LLC.com, posted comment about who they would give iPad too and why had the most "likes" they would win the iPad the next day at 6 pm.

There were many contestants who posted great reasons to win the laptop. I decided to try my luck and posted my reason why.

In short I have a special needs child who suffers from a rare neurological disorder, Angelman Syndrome. He cannot speak and is developmentally delayed so I said that I would give the iPad to him becausse it offers many exclusive applications that would help to improve his motor skills, cognitive abilities and communication.

I rounded up all the parents in the Facebook Angelman Syndrome community and encouraged them to "like" my comment.

There was another lady from your area, Kristen Hall who also had a lot of support. Towards the last hour of the contest we each were running neck to neck with over 250 "likes"

Within the last 10 minutes she had beat me 301-312! I had so much fun, and during the contest time Matt McMillen had personally friend requested me there and I started to learn what an amazing person he was.

When the contest was over I left a message on his wall congratulating Ms. Hall on her win and told her that I had a lot of fun.

When Matt McMillen officially posted the "winner" he chose to give both of us an iPad and help my son with special needs! What an amazing man you have in your community with great character and a giving heart!

If only more people were like him in this world. He helped two families yesterday out of pure kindness. He is certainly doing the Lord's work here on Earth.

I thought you may want to run this story in your paper. I want to pay it forward and offer him this spotlight in hopes people in your area who may need his services will know by this deed what an awesome guy he is, and use his services and support local businesses!

There are not many people like him, these bigger corporations tend to become greedy and rip people off! What an honest guy, what a GREAT guy! You should be very proud!

I hope you will run this story, he knows nothing about this, but I wanted to pay it forward.

And with all the local bad news of missing women, decapitated special needs children, neighbors killing three year olds (in my Cape Girardeau area) I just want to see a good news story and a highlight of the kind people that are in this world!

Please contact me at any time today! Hope to hear from you!
